Philoptochos

The philanthropic endeavors of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society during more than six decades is a genuine expression of love and Christian Charity. This expression of love is evident in the multitude of meaningful programs and services undertaken during the past sixty five years. Peoria All Saints Philoptochos is one of 500 nation-wide chapters whose main aim and purpose is philanthropy - the loving care of human sufferings. Our goal is to help the poor, the destitute, the hungry, the elderly, the sick, the unemployed, the orphaned, the imprisoned, the widowed, the disabled and victims of disasters whether in our country or wherever the need arises.

Our chapter, whose membership is 40, supports Peoria South Side Mission, Special Olympics, St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, American Cancer Societey, Easter Seals, St. Herman's in Alaska, along with the following National Philoptochos obligations: Social Services, Cardiac Fund, St. Photios Shrine, Archdiocese Missions Program, Hellenic College/Holy Cross, IOCC, St. Basil Academy, OCMC (Orthodox Christian Mission Center in St. Augustine, FL), Children's Medical Fund and UNICEF. Our chapter also participates in the Loaves and Fish program at First United Methodist Church where lunch is served every Saturday throughout the year, regardless of holidays, to the less fortunate.

Proceeds from all fundraising events go toward supporting the above charities and programs.
